Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee received the Assistant Minister and Financial Advisor of the Ministry of External Affairs of India

On the morning of June 14th 2017, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu received Mr. Sumeet Jarath, Assistant Minister and Financial Advisor of the Ministry of External Affairs of India.

At the meeting, on behalf of the leaders of Hanoi People’s Committee, Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Suu expressed his pleasure to welcome Mr. Sumeet Jerath to visit and work in Hanoi. The Vice Chairman shared an overview about the socio-economic development of  Hanoi in recent years and the development orientation in the coming time. The Vice Chairman emphasized that Vietnam and India have had good and lasting relations over the past 45 years, especially since the two countries have raised their ties to strategic partners in 2007. Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Suu expected the Assistant Minister and Financial Advisor of the Ministry of External Affairs of India to continues to make a positive contribution to strengthening the relationship between the two countries, thereby, promoting the activities cooperation between Hanoi, localities and Indian organizations, especially in the information technology field.

In response to the speech of leaders of the City People’s Committee, Mr. Sumeet Jerath, Assistant Minister and Financial Advisor of the Ministry of External Affairs of  India said : in 2017 marks the 45th  anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam - India diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Strategic Partnership, it also marks the 25th anniversary of India - ASEAN cooperation. The Government of India always pay attention and wants to deepen the cooperation with Vietnam, including cooperation between localities of the two countries.

On this occasion, the Indian delegation would visit and work with Ha Noi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh city to evaluate projects that were funded by the Government of India in Vietnam. In Hanoi, Mr. Sumeet Jerath expressed his pleasure at the project “Vietnam- Indian Resource Center in Information and Communications Technology ” has brought practical effect, contributing to the socio - economic development of the city.  As the result, the Government of India pledged to continue supporting Hanoi to implement phase II of the project in the coming time.

On this occasion, the Assistant Minister and Financial Advisor of the Ministry of External Affairs of  India formally invited the leaders of  Hanoi to officially visit India to survey some leading localities on the information technology filed and look for bilateral cooperation opportunities in areas of mutual interest.
