Toulouse assists Hanoi with the implementation of a 400,000 Euro preservation heritage project


This is one of the contents of cooperation in the future between Toulouse (France) and Hanoi capital to preserve the heritage of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long.

Information was shared in the meeting of Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Ngo Van Quy with the delegation of Toulouse (France) led by Vice President of Toulouse, Mr. Jean Claude Dardelet, on January 29th, 2018,

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of  Hanoi People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy informed about the socio-economic situation of the City in 2017, at the same time point of view the cooperation between Hanoi and Toulouse in the past years. Accordingly, since the establishment of friendly relations in 1996, the cooperation between Hanoi and Toulouse has been continuously strengthened and continuously developed. Toulouse has actively supported Hanoi in the field of restoration of historical monuments, old town, transportation infrastructure design consultancy. The two sides also regularly have cultural exchange activities, art training, trade promotion investment.

Vice Chairman of  Hanoi People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy received Mr. Jean Claude Dardelet- Member of  Toulouse Council, Vice Chairman of Toulouse Metropolitan Area.

In the coming time, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Ngo Van Quy expects the two sides will strengthen cooperation in the field of Toulouse strength. Specifically, Toulouse will provide technical support and technical advice to the Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center to implement the conservation and promotion of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long and archeology. The project has an estimated budget of € 402,000, of which 50% is funded by the French Development Agency (AFD), 25% from Toulouse and 25% from the capital city of Hanoi.

According to the agreement signed between the two countries, Hanoi will organize the Hanoi Cultural Days in Toulouse in 2019. This is an opportunity for people in the two cities to enhance mutual understanding, creating the basis for promoting cooperation in depth and efficiency. Hanoi is also expected to continue to cooperate with Toulouse to contributing to the 10th French-Vietnamese Decentralized Cooperation Conference, as well as the two sides to study the expansion of economic, trade and tourism in the coming time.

Agreed with the proposal from the city leaders, Vice Chairman of the Metropolitan Toulouse, Mr. Jean Claude Dardelet committed will continue to expand cooperation with Hanoi in various fields such as education, technology, conservation heritage building and the old town in the future... According to Mr. Jean Claude Dardelet, preparing for France-Vietnam decentralized cooperation Conference in Toulouse in April 2019, Toulouse will gather localities in France have a relationship with Vietnam to discuss specific content to be implemented at the forthcoming conference in April of this year.
