Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong meets Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung

Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung on March 24 met with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on his official visit to Vietnam, at the invitation of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

At the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung expressed his pleasure to meet Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong during his official visit, accompanying with his wife to Vietnam.

Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung highly appreciated Singapore’s development, under the leadership of Former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, from a hard and starving country to one of the leading country in various areas in Asia during 40 years. Following up these achievements, over the past 10 years, under the leadership of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Singapore has been growing as a model for many Asian countries and beyond the world.

Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung gave an overview of the city’s socio-economic development and emphasized that Hanoi is planned to develop towards a “smart city” by improving infrastructure, applying science and technology and e-government system in the city’s management, protecting and improving environment; developing public services and social welfare for its citizens.

In the coming years, Hanoi wishes to cooperate with Singapore in various areas of urban planning and management, tree planting, smart city and human resource training. Especially, Hanoi wishes to cooperate with the LeeKuan Yew Public School in sendingthe city’s officials to attend training courses of administrative management, meeting the city’s urgent requirements of human resources in the process of building and developing the city.

For his part, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong expressed his impression of Hanoi’s dramatic changes in urban landscape and increasingly developed infrastructure. Besides, Singaporean Prime Minister also expressed his pleasure with seeing the development in cooperation between Singapore and Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular, thereby promoting cooperation and investment between the two sides, especially in the areas of economy and trade.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong highly appreciated the results of cooperative projects that Singaporean investors are implementing in Hanoi. Prime Ministeris pleased to see the development and effectiveness of Singapore’s investment projects in Hanoi and wishes Hanoi authority to continuously create more favorable conditions for Singaporean investors to operate in Vietnam. Besides, he also noted that Singapore always wants to cooperate in Hanoi to invest and build hi-tech parks, develop software industry and the aspects of smart city.

For Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung’s suggestion in training officials, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong approved and affirmed to create conditions for officials Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general to attend training courses in Singapore, including Lee Kuan Yew Public School.
