Omani Enterprises Expecting Larger Investment in Hanoi


On May 16th, Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung met with H.E. Mr. Sultan Saif Hilal Al Mahruqi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Vietnam.

At the meeting, Ambassador Mahruqi expressed his delight at the Oman – Vietnam relations which has been increasingly developed and stated that Omani enterprises consistently expect to invest and expand their business in the capital of Hanoi and Vietnam as well. Talking about difficulties in the investment of harbours, the advantage of Oman, in the country, the diplomat hoped the city leaders would help clear up them.

Welcoming the Ambassador, Chairman Chung highly appreciated the growing cooperation between the authorities and Oman firms in Hanoi, particularly Duong River Surface-water Plant which was commenced in March. On his position, the mayor would create favourable conditions so that Oman enterprises could actively engage in investment and consultation of the relevant projects, said he. As for mentioned problems, the city government will offer feedbacks as soon as possible.

In agreement with suggestions by the Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee, Ambassador Mahruqi said the Omani government and enterprises have constant need for information on the city’s potential projects to seek cooperation opportunities. Despite enjoying continuing progress for ages, the cooperation between the Mideast country and Vietnam and also Hanoi has not yet corresponded with the potentials. He pledged to discuss the proposals with Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Hanoi.

Valuing the results of the talks, the Omani Ambassador committed himself to make utmost efforts for the bilateral relations and believed the potentials will be exploited more actively and extensively.
