Furthering Hanoi – Japan Cooperation and Exchange


On June 26th, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen The Hung had a meeting with Mr. Hironori Sakai, President of Nichietsushizen Japan – Vietnam Friendship Association on his visit to Vietnam.

Mr. Sakai introduced the activities of Nichietsushizen Japan – Vietnam Friendship Association merely 1 year after being established, including economic – cultural – sports exchange between the two countries ‘ enterprises and people and investment – trade – tourism promotion. As a non-profit organisation, the Association strives for the economic growth and expansion of the Vietnam – Japan friendship, said he.

As for Hanoi, he expressed his desire for support for the city government in enhancing exchange among firms of Hanoi and Japan and helping Japan businesses to seek cooperative opportunities in the city. The Association also suggested Hanoi People’s Committee introduce a plot the inner-city area to plant sakura trees, which is regarded as a symbol of Japan – Vietnam friendship.

Appreciating the ideas of the visitor, Vice Chairman Hung affirmed Japan is one of the leading partners of Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general. In the context of the positively growing bilateral relations at present, the city leader approved and hoped the Association could work closely with the competent agencies to carry out the projects practically and effectively, contributing to the prosperity of Hanoi and helping promote and deepen the friendship between the two countries.
