At the meeting, Chairman Chung informed the delegation about Hanoi’s achievements in socio-economic development and its following targets and priorities. In this year, specifically, the city has already prepared the public investment scheme for the period 2016-2020. Particularly, in view of sustainable development as the top priority, Hanoi establishes its objective of planning the water supply and waste treatment system, cleaning lakes around its area, planting more 1 million trees and improving the landscape. Also, the city pushes for the administrative procedure reform and support for both foreign investors and domestic enterprises.

The city leader expressed his respect for Hanoi – Fukuoka ties as well as Vietnam – Japan relations which are being extended through cultural exchanges and mutually developmental cooperation. Projects by Japanese investors in Hanoi have been successfully carried out, earning the trust of the people not only in the city but also in the whole country, e.g. Yen Xa waste water treatment plant, Hanoi Center for Cancer Patient, etc., said he.
On the occasion of their visit, Chairman Chung proposed 6 fields of greatly potential cooperation between the two regions. It involves (i) attracting investment from Japanese SMEs that possess high technology in Hanoi, (ii) dealing with air, lake and garbage pollution, (iii) facilitating the two-way tourism, (iv) increasing the quota for Vietnam trainees to go to Japan, (v) cooperation in fishery and (vi) that Fukuoka in particular and Japan in general transfer their technique in urban landscape design to Hanoi.
For his part, Chairman of Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly reviewed the important milestones in the progress of Hanoi – Fukuoka relations, underlining their collaborative programmes have successfully implemented and been increasingly promoted in quality and quantity. Regarding the 6 points brought up by the host, Chairman Nakao pledged to take them into account and serve as the bridge with their businesses and relevant agencies to seek for opportunities of cooperation with Hanoi.
