Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee meets Cambodian NA President

On the visit to Vietnam by the high-level delegation of the National Council of the Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodian Motherland led by Samdec Heng Samrin, Honorary President of Cambodian People’s Party, President of Cambodian National Assembly, Chairman of the National Council of the Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodian Motherland, the Party Committee, People’s Council and People’s Committee of Hanoi held an informal meeting to welcome the delegation on the evening of June 24th.

On behalf of the city leadership, Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai stated the visit has an enormously special significance when taking place right on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam – Cambodia diplomatic relations (June 24th, 1967 – June 24th, 2017). The people of Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular occasionally keep track of the development of the neighbouring country and are all happy at its economic, cultural and social achievements gained up to now, said he.

The leader of Hanoi expressed his delight at the dramatic and comprehensive progress in the bilateral relations over past time, especially when knowing that the Cambodian Royal Government had renovated and inaugurated Phnom Penh – Hanoi Friendship Boulevard in the capital of Phnom Penh. He expected that in future, the two capitals will further their comprehensive cooperation, contributing to promoting the friendship between the two peoples. Vietnam is actively preparing for the visit to Cambodia by General Secretary of Vietnamese Communist Party Nguyen Phu Trong in July, added he. Taking this opportunity, Secretary Hai wished the CPP would continue to secure its victory in the parliamentary election in 2018 and direct Cambodia on the road to prosperity.

On behalf of the Cambodian delegation, President Heng Samrin thanked the Vietnamese politician for his sincere congratulations and expressed a great admiration for the development of Vietnam in economics, culture and society. He hoped the traditional friendship and solidarity and comprehensive partnership between the two countries will ceaselessly improve and bring about practical benefits to their people.
